Aside from Terminal Fee and Travel Tax exemptions there is Duty and Tax Free privilege for OFW.
What is that?
An OFW may be allowed to bring in duty and tax free USED home appliances ( Less than Ten Thousand Pesos in value). Provided the quantity is limited to one of each kind.
1. Privilege can only be claim once in a calendar year.
2. Passport must be present on the point of entry.
3. Any amount in excess of P 10,000 will be subject to duty and tax.
Ex. Juan plans to bring his used 32 Inch LED TV in the Philippines as first time vacationer. He bought the item few months back for 800 RM ( Malaysian Ringgit). Will he be taxed?
Answer: No tax will be collected, Since it is his first time to avail the privilege and the value of his TV is less than 10K Pesos and was already used.
Things to remember when availing this privilege.
- Keep the receipt of your purchase (appliance), for Custom Officer inspection
- The Item must be categorized as USED and should not look as brand new.
