How to get an OEC in Malaysia

Overseas Employment Certificate or commonly known as OEC is a document needed for an Overseas Filipino Worker who are leaving for Philippines for a vacation.

Having an OEC will exempt you from paying Philippine Travel Tax (P1620.00) and Airport Terminal Fee of (P550.00).

So How to get an OEC in Malaysia?

Go to Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur (How to Phil Embassy in KL). Make sure to bring an extra ID (SSS, Philhealth, Drivers license or Company ID) as Security Officer need it in exchange for Visitors ID and bring the following below.

Philippine Embassy Gatehouse

1. Fill out an OFW Information Sheet (You may get this from POLO counter 8)

Or you can download  on my Google Share Drive (This is an updated OEC information sheet) click here (No Virus, it's safe)

2. Must Present the following

a. Passport with a Valid Work Permit

b. Valid Employment Contract verified by the POLO-KL/Stamp registered by POEA

c. Proof of OWWA membership and Philhealth coverage

d. Payment of RM10 for OEC and RM100 OWWA

Once you have all the documents, Please secure a Priority Number on Window 8. They will call the OFWs according to priority number.

Once your queue number is called, submit all the documents above to the staff at Window 8 (by experience, Professional Workers are only required with an old OEC, Passport with Visa and 10RM). But it's better to bring all those documents above in case they need it.

They will release the hand written OEC with Information of your Name, Position, Worksite, Employer and Passport Number, and Valid Date. Be sure to verify all the information above before leaving the embassy

Please note that OEC is valid for sixty (60) Days from the date of issue or until the expiration of the work permit, whichever comes first.

Tip:
Please download OFW Information Sheet fill it out  ahead before going to Embassy as it consumes a lot of time.

It's best to get an OEC in KL before going home rather obtaining it in Philippines. From friends experience, they'll be asking for more requirements and made you pay for Philhealth and contribution for Pag-Ibig.

Best time to visit embassy early in the morning or right after their lunch break 1PM onwards, as queue is lesser.
