Filipino Food and Restaurants in Malaysia

Does Malaysia have Filipino Foods? I always got this question from a friend in the Philippines, expat colleagues or  OFW's who just landed here in Malaysia. When I say, YES they got always surprise and start to ask questions where to find it.

There are quite a number of Filipinos living and working in Kuala Lumpur  and Selangor area. Which creates an opportunity to our fellow Kababayans to open up a franchise restaurant, typical carenderia type or make shift stall.

Filipino Food and Resturants that I know of in Kuala Lumpur

Restoran Bario Piesta
The First Filipino Food I had tasted except at home was in Restoran Bario Piesta. It's located on the 3rd Floor of Kota Raya Complex in Kuala Lumpur

Just like it's name, the variety of Filipino food is like of a fiesta. They served Sinigang, sisig, daing na bangus, monggo, embutido, adobo, chorizo, tortang talong etc.

Few of my favorites are Embutido, Paksiw and tortang talong. Then paired it with Ice Tea, Filipino cravings solve.

Apple and Peaches

Another Filipino stall I frequent is Apple and Peaches, near HP Aisha saloon on the 3rd floor of Kota Raya Complex. I love their Lechon Kawali and Caldereta, and for the dessert Halo-Halo and Leche Flan.

Only recently I saw Apple and Peaches Cafe. Looking at the menu on the neon ads, It shows all the all time Filipino favorite food. I will try on my next venture here.

Make shift stalls outside of St. John Cathedral

Right after attending mass, I eat randomly on these 3 makeshift stalls. All of them have same choices of food. But I always go one opposite to church, as Prefer Kapampangan  style of cooking. My best bets are Sisig, Beef caldereta and Adobo. There are only limited seats for customers, so expect eating in standing position.

Laguna Cafe

If you extremely missed the Filipino and want to taste them all but you're on a tight budget. Then Laguna Cafe is the answer to your longing. They serve Buffet Lunch on weekdays from 11:30 AM till 2:30 PM for only 12.90 per person. I heard from a friends feedback, that there food is quiet good but it's jam pack during lunch. As other nationalities would also go here  to try our food. But they also serve ala carte here if not on buffet hours.

For those who want to try bit classy, Pancake House operates here in Malaysia. I frequently visit their branch in Mid Valley Mall since this is the most nearest in my place.

They serve my all time favorite Boneless Bangus, the same serving, side dish  and taste in the Philippines.

Another favorite is their Beef Tapa which is also similar in Philippines. They serve Pan Cakes, which are to die for and our national dessert, Halo-Halo. The price range is also within the range same in our country.

These are just few restoran and places for Filipino food. I know there's more and we'll share the rest once visited them.
